Tech Tuesday

Tech Tuesday

About the Day

March 4th is Tech Tuesday, a day dedicated to recognizing the technological innovations of veteran-led startups and companies. As the world becomes increasingly digital, technology plays a critical role in the success of businesses. Veteran entrepreneurs have a unique perspective and skill set that allows them to create cutting-edge technology solutions.

According to the Small Business Administration, veterans are more likely to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) than non-veterans. This background in STEM fields provides a strong foundation for veteran entrepreneurs to create innovative solutions that can improve the lives of others.

Veteran Entrepreneur Examples

One example of a successful veteran-led technology startup is Sword & Plough, founded by sisters Emily and Betsy Nunez. Sword & Plough creates stylish bags and accessories made from repurposed military surplus materials. They also donate 10% of their profits to veteran-focused organizations.

Another example is Doc Spartan, a veteran-owned business that creates all-natural personal care products for athletes and military personnel. They started with a single product, a healing balm, and have since expanded their product line to include other skincare products and apparel.

By showcasing the innovative solutions created by veteran entrepreneurs, we can inspire others to pursue their own ideas and contribute to the tech industry. #TechTuesday and #VetInnovators are hashtags that can be used to share and promote these stories.

For example, a tech company could use Tech Tuesday to showcase their veteran employees and the unique perspective they bring to their work. A veteran entrepreneur could share their journey of starting a tech company and how their military background influenced their ideas.

In addition to showcasing veteran-led companies, Tech Tuesday is also an opportunity to provide resources and support to aspiring veteran entrepreneurs. Organizations such as the Veteran Entrepreneur Program, VetsInTech, and Bunker Labs provide mentorship, networking opportunities, and funding for veteran entrepreneurs.

Tech Tuesday is not only about celebrating the innovative solutions created by veteran entrepreneurs but also about inspiring others to pursue their ideas and contribute to the tech industry. By supporting veteran-led companies and providing resources for aspiring veteran entrepreneurs, we can help them achieve success in the tech world.
